Wrapping up 2024…
Can you believe that we’re at the end of 2024?
If you’d asked me this time last year if I’d be starting my own speech therapy practice in 2024, I probably wouldn’t have given you a vibrant “heck no!” but I would have likely said “probably not”. And yet here we are.
Already in 6 short months, having my own practice has meant so much and changed a lot for me. I feel more present in my therapy visits with kids. I feel more connected with parents and caregivers. I feel more creative and inspired. I love my field again.
If you’re reading this and your kid is currently on schedule, you probably already know how much I appreciate you. But it can’t be said enough, thank you for trusting me to support your child and your family. Thank you for the care and passion you put into your sessions, your homework, and your parent coaching sessions. Thank you for supporting my small business!
If you’re here because you’re curious about services or you’re one of the many friends and family who support me by reading my blog, sharing my social posts, and much more…thank you for being here. You, too, are so very appreciated.
So what’s in store for 2025?
None of these are written in stone BUT if I put them out into the universe, perhaps they’re more likely to happen: (or you all will pester me and hold me accountable…please).
More opportunities to socialize…
For the kids who really need a supportive group of peers
For parents and caregivers who need a space to vent and feel validated
For clinicians who need to hear from other clinicians in private practice!
Opportunities to get outdoors and get our hands a little dirty - more information on this coming soon!
A course or two - I’ve talked about it for so long and I miss teaching so much! We’ll see how this transpires in the next year. Online courses or a presentation at a local conference are all options.
What will continue?
Collaboration! I’ve met a myriad of wonderful people in the past 6 months. There are some incredible people doing some really cool stuff in the Austin area, so I’ll keep meeting awesome people and collaborate! Collaboration within treatment sessions with behavior therapists, BCBAs and teachers? I’m holding onto that like it’s the winning lottery ticket. The best freaking part of my day!
Individualized, 1:1, child-led speech therapy - you all have had such a fabulous response and validated the play-based approach I love so much. I’ll keep riding around with a trunk full of toys, constantly making noise as I drive around! (No worries, I typically can’t hear it over my 90s mix, Chappell Roan playlist, or true crime podcast!)
Parent support and coaching - having closer contact with parents has been at the heart of my mission since day 1! I’ll still be here supporting you all through 2025 and beyond.
If you have ideas or feedback, please let me know! What do you want to see more of?
Thank you all! May you and your family have the most wonderful holiday season! Can’t wait to see all that we accomplish together in 2025!
