What is Simple Sparrow Care Farm?

Simple Sparrow Care Farm is a non-profit, trauma-informed care farm located in Hutto, TX. You can read all about their farm here.

Their focus is on Learn + Grow + Heal.

  • Heal the World

I encourage you to explore their website and let Jamie (Founder of Simple Sparrow) describe the opportunities available at the farm herself!

What does speech therapy on the farm look like?

  • Sessions are 45-minutes in length to give us ample time to explore the farm.

  • All speech sessions start at The Bird House. We might start with an activity to get us ready for what we might see on the farm & make a plan for what we want to explore.

  • Each animal and area on the farm has a different energy…

    • Chicken coop - wild, chaotic, loud!

    • Bunny castle - quieter, cozier, mellow for example, the chicken coop can be wild, chaotic, and LOUD!

    • Pigs, goats, sheep - somewhere in the middle range, not chaotic but also not mellow.

  • We’ll have a chance to explore all of these, while also meeting the pigs, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, bunnies, turtles, and llama (with caution!).

Who can go to the farm?

  • Farm sessions are open to current speech therapy clients of Where Language Blooms. Your child must have a current plan of care through WLB in order to participate in speech therapy at the farm.

  • Olivia can discuss with you any barriers that may exist with your child being able to safely explore the farm. Children who elope frequently or engage in aggressive behavior may need additional support in order to participate in farm activities. We can discuss these barriers, as they may be applicable to your child.
